We have made it! officially Friday, 5:15pm. We haven't really taken any more pictures to post. The last leg of our journey was the "desert" which was Surprise Arizona to Capistrano Beach California and was long to say the least. While the drive is pretty and has wonderful landscape it's long, straight, kinda boring one.
The journey over all was a blast and once we're settled in a bit more and have a second will post more details on the trip. In the mean time we're "home", with loved one's and plan to enjoy it.

Perfect Quote -
"...believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well-worn path, and that will make all the difference."
--Steve Jobs (Stanford commencement address)
"Diane Fox Benson" posted this quote on her facebook page and I HAD to grab it. No other words could fit more perfectly into this blog. For anyone who still has questions on why we are making this crazy move... See above.

California !
We just crossed the California state line!! It is 12:30 here.
The landscape here is still beautiful, but ever since Grand Canyon and Red Rocks, nothing can match up for pictures.
We are almost there, approximately 220 more miles to go!!!

Sedona AZ
Yes the Grand Canyon was beautiful and yes I'm going back one day. The Canyon is so large and so far away that you need an exit strategy to properly plan your adventure. Ours was Sedona AZ, the Red Rock, and Oak Creek/Slide Rock State Park. Though not as large scale as the Grand Canyon all of the shots below we're as beautiful and enjoyable, they are just harder to shoot. Arizona is incredible!!! The whole country side is cool, then you hit New Mexico which is pretty, then... Arizona! and every inch we've seen is awesome.
Grand Canyon
Side trip number one while in Arizona. I'm mean how could we not hit the Grand Canyon? I've picked through the pictures we took at the GC and selected ones that I like. There are a million more... it's just that easy to photograph. Truly is breathtaking and hard to explain it's mass. Every single point you look out is completely different from the last. Simply amazing. Shots below.
Arizona
Okay so we're a little behind on posting due to loss of cell service for the hot spot. Were in Arizona now and really had a hell of an awesome day. Stayed in Winslow Arizona, yep the one the Eagle sing about in "taking it easy" last night. Woke up this morning to a light rain and some chilly temps but no problem. Our goal for the days travel was not to make West bound progress... we had a few side trips in mind. Check out some of the shots from Winslow onward.

Trip update
Okay no pictures for a second but rather just a quick update.
We woke up in Texas and after visiting the Cadillac Ranch decided to high tail it to the next state. Texas landscape was really neat and finally after a thousand miles since our departure it was starting to look different then Maryland... which is what I've been waiting for. Texas weather (and Oklahoma) was a perfect 80 degrees with very low humidity and it felt great. It was perfect around the clock, morning, afternoon, and night it was just comfortable, in fact Oklahoma hit 94 degrees and with it's low humidity it felt really comfortable. We haven't used the A/C on the entire trip.
We blew through the rest of Texas and rolled right on into New Mexico to see the Blue Hole (post below). It was really neat and you could damn near see to the 80+Ft bottom it was so clear. Clouds and wind made it pretty chilly so we didn't hang around terribly long. After that stop came a completely unplanned stop at the Sandia Mt's. Hey it was a chance to see 10K ft elevation so what's a few hours off the trail to check it out. Driving these portions of the western interstates you have to watch your fuel, some times it's hours before the next gas station. Distance greatly increases when you head out off the interstate and make your own adventure... which we've now done quite a few times. We're learning as we go, half tank or more before leaving the main road. It's extremely remote just minutes from the off ramp. Recession has hit these areas very hard and half the stores, restaurants, and gas stations you come to and closed down for business. Tucumcari was really neat and I can see why people choose it as home, it's a small private mountain setting and was very peaceful.
The rest of today we racked up the miles. 700+ today including our side trip to Sandia Mt. The Western side of New Mexico is simply beautiful. The Plateaus and red Mesas and stunning and the Continental Divide is breath taking. NW is by far the coolest landscape we've seen. Pictures and extremely tough to take with our basic digital camera (sometimes rolling 80mph) but here are a few to give an idea... ha! and I said no pics...
-Cheers
