Trip update

Okay no pictures for a second but rather just a quick update.

We woke up in Texas and after visiting the Cadillac Ranch decided to high tail it to the next state. Texas landscape was really neat and finally after a thousand miles since our departure it was starting to look different then Maryland... which is what I've been waiting for. Texas weather (and Oklahoma) was a perfect 80 degrees with very low humidity and it felt great. It was perfect around the clock, morning, afternoon, and night it was just comfortable, in fact Oklahoma hit 94 degrees and with it's low humidity it felt really comfortable. We haven't used the A/C on the entire trip.

We blew through the rest of Texas and rolled right on into New Mexico to see the Blue Hole (post below). It was really neat and you could damn near see to the 80+Ft bottom it was so clear. Clouds and wind made it pretty chilly so we didn't hang around terribly long. After that stop came a completely unplanned stop at the Sandia Mt's. Hey it was a chance to see 10K ft elevation so what's a few hours off the trail to check it out. Driving these portions of the western interstates you have to watch your fuel, some times it's hours before the next gas station. Distance greatly increases when you head out off the interstate and make your own adventure... which we've now done quite a few times. We're learning as we go, half tank or more before leaving the main road. It's extremely remote just minutes from the off ramp. Recession has hit these areas very hard and half the stores, restaurants, and gas stations you come to and closed down for business. Tucumcari was really neat and I can see why people choose it as home, it's a small private mountain setting and was very peaceful.

The rest of today we racked up the miles. 700+ today including our side trip to Sandia Mt. The Western side of New Mexico is simply beautiful. The Plateaus and red Mesas and stunning and the Continental Divide is breath taking. NW is by far the coolest landscape we've seen. Pictures and extremely tough to take with our basic digital camera (sometimes rolling 80mph) but here are a few to give an idea... ha! and I said no pics...
-Cheers
